The American Red Cross now faces a severe blood shortage due to an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations during this coronavirus outbreak.
Go to redcross.org, put in the zip code 06268 Storrs, then choose St. Thomas and make your appointment today. Walkins will be accepted also.
Donating blood is a safe process and people should not hesitate to give or receive blood. Right now, eligible and healthy donors are strongly urged to make an appointment to give soon.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish will be conducting another drive by food drive, organized by the Knights of Columbus and the Pastoral Council, outside at St. Mary’s near the front doors on Saturday, 9/26, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Perishable food is acceptable as long as we don’t have to refrigerate it. Checks made out to Catholic Charities are also acceptable. There will be volunteers outside in masks and gloves to remove the food from your vehicles. Please have all food in bags or boxes for quick removal. Please stay in your vehicle...

If you have not yet to make a gift/pledge to our Annual Collection please consider doing so this week. Last year the Annual Collection helped fund the remodeling of the Altar with new sub-flooring and replaced carpeting with tile. This year, we plan to: be prepared for any unexpected maintenance and repairs due to our aging buildings. The participation of ALL parishioners is essential for the success of this effort. Thank you!

The monthly Diocesan Pro-Life Mass will take place at The Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich on Saturday, October 3 at 8:30 A.M. Please join our celebrant Rev. Ray Introvigne at Mass as we pray to end abortion and for the healing for those who have had an abortion. Following the Mass, the Rosary will be prayed both at the Cathedral and Planned Parenthood.

The Blessing of the Animals will take place at St. Mary’s on Sunday, October 4th at 12:30 p.m. outside the church near the hall entrance.
There will also be a Pet Food Drive by donation for Sarah’s Second Chance Dog Rescue. The information for that is listed below. There will be someone from the rescue there to collect donations and answer any questions you might have about the rescue. No donation is too small and greatly appreciated!

SSCDR will rescue dogs from shelters and take in owner surrenders from the state of Connecticut. We are a very small dedicated group, who run this rescue only on donations, and out of our own pockets. Any donation is never too little, and it is always greatly appreciated.
